Van Egmond House Public Archaeology Project

Van Egmond House Public Archaeology Project

We are excited to announce that we are hosting a Public Archaeology Day in partnership with Van Egmond House on Saturday, October 5, 2024.

The Van Egmond House has two registered sites on the property, which were identified in 1977 and designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. The London Chapter will be assessing the archaeological sites on the property via Stage 2 test pit survey in order to assist the Van Egmond Foundation with proposed outdoor upgrades on the property. We will have experienced archaeologists guiding and teaching volunteer participants through the archaeological process, and helping to identify any artifacts that are found during the day.

We are putting out a call for volunteers who wish to participate! This is a great opportunity to obtain hands on experience in archaeological fieldwork. All volunteers are responsible for their own transportation, and we recommend bringing plenty of water, snacks and a lunch. All ages are welcome. Bring your family and friends for a fun filled day in the dirt!

Location: Van Egmond House, 80 Kippen Rd, Egmondville, ON N0K 1G0

When: Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
