The next meeting of the London Chapter OAS will be online via ZOOM. It will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 7:30 PM. The speaker will be:

Dr. Patricia Markert, Department of Anthropology, University of Western Ontario on: Rubble History: Approaching the Ruins of 19th Century German Migration to Texas

Dr. Markert will take a close look at one of the ruined structures she and her crew recorded in 2018 in Old D’Hanis, a 19th century Alsatian and German settlement in south Texas. Using photogrammetry, architecture, oral history, and archival evidence, the presentation trace the house through multiple generations, examining how an intergenerational home — and later ruin — provides insight into how migrants and their descendants negotiated identity and place over time.

London Chapter members will be automatically sent a ZOOM link but anyone else wishing to attend can send an email request to Jim Keron at jrkeron@yahoo.com and he will send a link to the ZOOM meeting session. The ZOOM session normally opens about 7:00 PM.

Note that our April 13th ZOOM meeting will feature Dr. Jennifer Birch, Anthropology, University of Georgia, on some recent work concerning Iroquoian Archaeology in Ontario. Please visit our website where we will update with specific of the talks soon as they become available.
